BONES IN THE CRYPT
Whilst those of us training for Le Tour de France cycled our way around Rome in four hours, the remaining foot soldiers commenced their day with a visit to Santa Maria della Concezione, the crypt of which contains the skeletal remains of some 4000 bodies, which have been nailed to the walls in intricate patterns. These Capuchin Monks are a telling testament to the brevity of life as it was then, and for some of us still. An inscription in five languages reminds you of this as you depart, it states: "What you are now we used to be; what we are now you will be..." from Mr. Affonso
