On Monday, most of the group took a bike tour around Rome. We ventured around the Colosseum, over to the Circus Maximus, then up through the Parco Sant'Alessio on the Aventine hill into the Square of the Knights of Malta, which houses one of Rome’s best kept secrets, only to be seen by peeking through a keyhole...
a beautifully framed view of St Peter’s Basilica seen through a tunnel of climbing plants. On our bikes again we fought through Roman traffic and cobbled back streets to discover the Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona and the Pantheon, as well as Santa Maria in Trastevere, the first church in Rome. This was definitely a spectacular and exciting way to see the Eternal City.
