SALUTE !!! THE PROLOGUE !!!
ReplyDeleteRemember that TV program "Airline" where verbose passengers take Easy Jet, no I mean "Squeazy Jet", to task ?? Mr. A had the pleasure of doing that with one such Easy Jet staff member at Gatwick at the start of Claremont's sixth form adventure to Rome. I thought the Spaniards owned Gatwick, wasn't aware that Easy Jet had bought it off them !! That aside a pleasant flight was had by us all, after a brief brushing with celebrity at breakfast. Hardeep Singh-Kholi waltzed in and we offered him the opportunity to join us for breakfast, alas only if we were paying, and we have a budget to keep to.......better luck next time Hardeep !
Once checked in at the Hotel Luciani, our illustrious guide Mr. Engelhardt began the tour, which walked us past many well known and lesser known Roman buildings. What a vibrant city Rome is, and how ravenous our appetites were, when some of us arrived at the restaurant for Bruschetta and pasta. I say some of us, since several members of staff and students parted company with the main group thanks to an extremely long traffic light at one of Rome's many bridges. Mr. Engelhardt to the rescue, and we were soon back in the fold. After a warm meal, we then experienced driving in Rome first hand, as our public transport bus flew round every possible corner at high speed. An espresso and some excellent Gelato rounded off a satisfying day. Bella noce !!
